I will be heading back to Brooks River this year and I am very excited! I will be helping Roy Toft, with the Camping with the Bears workshop. This is a great trip and one that will allow you to witness one of the amazing wildlife experiences in the world, the Brooks River. This river is in the heart of Katmai National Park and Preserve. We will be heading there in September, which will allow us to photograph the bears when they are nice and fat, with their thick coats. They will be almost finished with hyperphasia, a state where bears will consume enormous amounts of food to increase their fat levels to help sustain them through hibernation.

From the photos you can tell we had an awesome time in 2005. We will be staying in the camp ground at Brooks Camp which will allow us to get up early and get the great light that rises over Naknak Lake.

This is a good trip for all photographic levels. You will be able to photograph mothers with cubs, sub adults and males; all exhibiting different behaviors, bears just being bears.

The dates for the Camping with the Bears workshop as listed above are September 12 – 17, 2007. If you have any questions please contact us and if you would like to sign up for the trip contact Roy Toft and he would be happy to get you on the list. Space is limited so don't wait if you are interested, you will have the time of your life. I look forward to seeing you in Alaska!
