The Japanese Macaque, Macaca fuscata, have adapted over several years to bathe in these hot springs. This region of Japan is known for its natural hot springs and people travel here to enjoy and relax in them. Some of my favorite images are these intimate portraits of the snow monkeys near Nagano, Japan. This is the alpha male of the troop and I wanted to really focus in on the body language in this image. The way the arms are crossed and the content look on this monkeys face is what I was trying to capture.
